Our Winemakers

The consulting team led by Ossie Sauermann and Marozanne Grobbelaar, together with the winemaking team from Glenwood; Natasha Pretorius and DP Burger (Cellar Master) makes sure the range of wines are well looked after and made to perfection.
These 4 winemakers have more than 80years of conjoint experience under their belts, making each person’s inset, ideas and palate of immeasurable value.

Ossie matriculated in the small town of Napier, and by ‘not so random’ course of events (or fate) decided to study winemaking after doing an internship at L’Ormarins cellar. After completion of his studies, Ossie made wine for 6 years before starting his own agricultural consulting company. Ossie has successfully run his business for the past 13 years, focusing on establishing new vineyards, cultivating these vines and manicuring the grapes to represent the true terroir of the Franschhoek valley.

Growing up on the West Coast and having a keen interest in Biology and Chemistry, Marozanne decided to study winemaking at Elsenburg agricultural college. She moved to Franschhoek after her studies and soon fell in love with this majestic small town. Winemaking and the fine balance between chemistry, biology and art is what intrigued her and makes her eager to start each day in this incredible industry.

Natasha is a very focused individual and has great attention to detail. She grew up in Gauteng, obtained her degree in Vinicultute at the University of Stellenbosch and has been cultivating her love for wine at Glenwood since 2018.

DP has been at the head of Glenwood for the past 32 years, being intrinsically involved with every aspect of the farm, vines and cellar and growing the business to what it is today. With a natural passion for agriculture and the winemaking process he keeps a watchful eye on the Glenwood cellar. He grew up in the Franschhoek valley and knows the terroir like the back of his hand.
